In an excellent representative display, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill Goes Berserk as Gujarat Titans Big Chase 215 and thrashed Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in Qualifier 2 to secure a place in the final at the New International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh — one of the biggest margins of victory ever seen in this year’s edition of IPL.

Gujarat Titans chased down the daunting target of 215 without batting an eye. Making his captaincy debut, skipper Shubman Gill could not have asked for a more flawless knock to start the season with one of the classics on view. How the right-hander began attacking Rajasthan bowlers at the very start with his elegant strokes, but apple didn’t fall far from the tree when he paired it up with intent as well. Chasing down 182 runs in not much time, Gill’s innings of 104 (53) was a knock that would remain long in memory with GT well ahead the whole chase.

Sai Sudharsan proved to be a perfect companion for Gill, bludgeoning 58 off just 32 balls. The pair put together a colossal first-wicket partnership that turned the game decisively in favour of Gujarat. Boundaries came thick and fast all around the ground as Rajasthan’s bowlers failed to find a way through.

RR did get a couple of wickets late in the day but it was too little, too late. Chasing a target of 219, Gujarat Titans reached home in just 18.4 overs on the back of eight balls to spare and booked their place in IPL 2026 finals.

The defeat also brought down the curtains on a splendid campaign for Rajasthan Royals. Even as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and Ravindra Jadeja put in outstanding individual performances with the ball, the bowling unit fell short of defending what would have likely been a winning total on plenty of occasions.

Shubman Gill was deserving of the Player of the Match award after his match-winning century. The captain’s knock helped Gujarat Titans chase down a mammoth target and also created waves ahead of the IPL 2026 final, where GT are now in the contention for the championship trophy.
